DefQon.1 Organisers Seek Comments from Businesses

DefQon.1 music festival originates from the Netherlands and was successfully held in Australia for the first time at the International Regatta Centre in Penrith in September 2009.

.

Last year some 15,000 patrons, including 5% international and 20% interstate visitors, attended the festival which injected close to a million dollars into the local economy. This year DefQan.1 will be held on Saturday 18th September at the same venue subject to all approvals being obtained by the organisers.

.

The organisers have developed a Transport Management Plan (TMP) for the festival which will be discussed at a stakeholders meeting on 16th August. The TMP will also address one of the post event feedbacks relating to concerns with a number of pedestrians parking and walking through North Penrith commercial and industrial areas.

.

If businesses wish to review and provide comments regarding the TMP or discuss any aspect of the festival, please contact Ms Anna Christie on phone 0425 322 186 or email anna.christie@optusnet.com.au.

.

CEO of the Penrith Business Alliance, Bijai Kumar, said that “For a one day event, the festival injects significant cash into the local economy. We are hoping that DefQon.1’s success will motivate others to consider this magical venue for all kinds of international and national events.”
